The first meeting of AANW was convened in Melbourne in 2004, and has traditionally been held as a satellite meeting of the annual Australasian Neuroscience Society (ANS) Conference. Since its beginning, the meeting has grown and is now attended by researchers from across Australia, New Zealand and the globe.

The meeting is a great opportunity to gather and discuss new scientific developments in the field of auditory and vestibular neuroscience. In particular, the meeting aims to provide emerging researchers – doctoral students and postdoctoral trainees – a friendly forum in which to present their work and receive constructive feedback from senior scientists in the field.

The 2024 AANW meeting is honoured to host Prof. Ethan Scott from Melbourne University presenting the keynote lecture. It will again be held as a satellite meeting to ANS.
